50 accused arrested for stone pelting at Chandrababu Naidu's rally in Andhra Pradesh, police taking help of footage

Fifty people have been arrested for their involvement in stone pelting and arson during TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu's visit to the district. Apart from this, 200 other people involved in the riots are also likely to be arrested, police said on Saturday, as police are going through footage to identify those involved in the violence.
Around 20 policemen and several supporters of the opposition TDP as well as the ruling YSRCP were injured in stone-pelting and arson during Chandrababu Naidu's visit to the district on Friday.
Chittoor District Superintendent of Police Y Rishanth Reddy said, "We have video footage and we are expecting to nab 150 to 200 more people. We will also have additional forces, 300 policemen from within the district and from the Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP)." Have brought them and deployed them across the district."
"We have caught all those people who attacked several policemen, including a woman, with stones, beer bottles, sticks, and other objects," the police said. He, however, said that the situation is now under control and there is no need to invoke Section 144 of the CrPC. Meanwhile, police sources claimed that all those arrested are from TDP.
Police said the organizers of Naidu's rally had not taken permission to enter Punganur and around 400 personnel were deployed on settlement duty. Police said that when the TDP supporters were stopped by the police from trying to enter the city, they allegedly attacked them.
Incidentally, a clash was earlier reported at Madanapalle in Annamayya district, which triggered the riots before Naidu's rally reached Punganur.
Police said that more than two thousand people were present there during the riot, out of which 50 policemen were injured and 13 were seriously injured. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Mines Minister Peddi Reddy Ramachandra Reddy met the hospitalized police personnel and promised all medical facilities required for their recovery.
Naidu is on the 'Yuddh Bheri' tour to highlight the alleged failure of the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government in completing irrigation projects in various districts. It is a 2,500-kilometer tour from Nandikotkur to Pathapatnam.
According to the SP, the problem started after Chandrababu Naidu's alleged derogatory remarks while addressing a rally at Mulakalakheruvu, where he called Thambalapalle MLA Peddi Reddy Dwarkanath Reddy 'Raavan'.
