5-year-old Shri Ram will appear in the Ram temple

For the Ram temple being built in Ayodhya, the idol of Lord Shri Ram will be carved out of Shyam Shila (Black Stone). The idol will be made by renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj of Mysuru (Karnataka). Vishwa Teerth Prapannacharya, a member of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, said on Wednesday that the form of the idol was finalized in the two-day meeting of the trust.
Prapannacharya told that the structure of the idol of Lord Rama would be like that of a five-year-old child's face and body. The Lord's standing posture will have a bow on his left shoulder. The height of the idol will be about 5 feet. Prapannacharya said that the idol will be carved from the stones brought to Ayodhya from the Karkar and Hege Deven Kote villages of Karnataka. Sculptor Arun will decide which rock to make the idol.
Trust general secretary Champat Rai said, "The 'Krishna Shila' was selected after consultation with saints, geologists, sculptors, experts in Hindu scriptures and trust officials." A committee of 5 painters and sculptors of the country has agreed on the portrait of famous painter Vasudev Kamat of Pune. The idol will be shaped on the basis of this picture.
Arun Yogiraj, 37, comes from a family of artists in the Mysore palace. He is a fifth-generation sculptor. He did his MBA from the University of Mysore in 2008, then worked for a private company. Then came into this profession. However, he was inclined towards making sculptures since childhood. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also praised his work.
His 28 feet tall statue of Subhash Chandra Bose is installed in Delhi, 12 feet tall statue of Adi Shankaracharya in Kedarnath and 14.5 feet statue of Maharaja Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar in Mysore.
