In the year 2021, around 4 lakh road accidents took place in the country. In these, around 1 lakh people lost their lives, while around 4 lakh people had to be admitted to the hospital. A report named 'Road Accidents in India-2021' has been released by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), in which this information has been given.
The report states that in 2021, there were 4,12,432 road accidents in the country, in which 1,53,972 people lost their lives, while 3,84,448 people were injured. Of this, a total of 19,478 road accidents occurred due to over-speeding, distraction or loss of control on the part of the driver due to misunderstanding of the curve, in which 9,150 people died and 19,077 were injured.
According to the report, during 2021, the number of rear-end collisions is the highest in total accidents at 21.2%. The total number of persons killed during this period is 18.6%. After this, the percentage of a head-on collision is 18.5. Most of the head-on collisions took place on narrow lanes and sharp turns.
The report said that the other reason for the accidents is hit and run, which was 16.8 percent. At the same time, the hit from the side was 11.9 percent. National-level data shows that there have been more accidents in 2021 than in 2020.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's brother Prahlad Modi's Mercedes car met with an accident in Karnataka on Tuesday. The leg of Prahlad Modi's grandson got fractured in the accident. At the same time, four family members including Prahlad Modi have been injured. All have been admitted to JS Hospital in Mysore for treatment. According to the information, the accident took place near Mysore at 2 pm on Tuesday.
