Of the approximately 69.2 crore women population in the country, about 37% are actively working. According to the Career Net report, cities like Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai are on top in terms of women's employment. Women's representation at the junior level and on the boards of companies increased by 2-5% in 2023 compared to 2022.

According to the report, 40% of the talent coming out of colleges in 2023 were women. Women candidates with between three and seven years of experience account for 20-25 per cent of the total appointments. There has been a slight increase in the employment ratio of women in most major cities of the country except Delhi and the National Capital Region i.e. NCR.

Hyderabad has the highest placement rate (34%). In Chennai, this rate is 29%, and in Pune, it is 33%. In Delhi-NCR, there has been a 20% decrease. Twenty-five thousand job placements were analysed to prepare this report.

The analysis showed that the trend of hiring more women into financial services, insurance, and banking has increased. Just 5% of people from rural areas work in the organised sector, compared to 30% of people who live in cities.
