Maharashtra Republican Party Pledges Support to Ajit Pawar's NCP

The Maharashtra Republican Party, which officially announced Monday their support for the Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has given the latter a valuable political boost. Ajit Pawar, Deputy speaker, and Sanjay Sonavane, Republican Party President made the announcement during a joint presser in Indapur.

Speaking at the event, Ajit Pawar paid tributes to the Ambedkarite who contributed to social welfare and described him as an honorable person. Sonawane can assure the NCP is an inclusive party and 10 per cent of its seats will go to minorities, Pawar assured. NCP’s continued commitment to build the state on the ideals of Shivaji, Shahu Maharaj, Jyotiba Phule and Dr B.R. Ambedkar, he reaffirmed.

The Maharashtra Republican Party, an Ambedkarite political entity active in 23 districts across the state, has aligned with NCP to combat the opposition’s narrative regarding potential constitutional changes and the end of reservations. Sanjay Sonawane, while announcing his support for NCP, emphasized the importance of countering such misleading claims.

The Republican Party also declared its support for the NCP candidate and sitting MLA Dattatray Bharane in the Indapur constituency. With this alliance, NCP’s position in Indapur has been further solidified, and the backing of the Republican Party is expected to attract Dalit voters, enhancing NCP’s electoral prospects.
