Lucknow Super Giants Captain Rishabh Pant Unhappy with 20 Extras in Loss vs Delhi Capitals

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were defeated by Delhi Capitals (DC) by 6 wickets in the fifth match of IPL 2026. After the match, the captain of Lucknow team, Rishabh Pant, was seen in an unhappy mood over the extra runs conceded by the bowlers.

In the match, LSG was sent to bat first. The team was bowled out in 18.4 overs at a total of 141 runs. Delhi chased the total in 17.1 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process while scoring 26 runs. During the innings of Delhi, the bowlers of LSG conceded 20 extra runs in the form of 16 wides and 4 leg byes, which is equal to about 14% of the total.

After losing the match, Rishabh Pant said, "When you score 140 runs, you try harder. If they played normal cricket, they would have won. A few more wickets in the power-play could have put pressure on them." Pant admitted that the bowlers were getting help from the pitch initially, but felt his team failed to capitalize on it with the bat. He explained, "The new ball was helping, but we couldn't build a big partnership. When you don't have a lot of runs, you have to make some difficult decisions, like making a batsman bowl a little less."
