IPPB Launches Aadhaar Face Authentication for Inclusive Banking
IPPB unveils Aadhaar-based face authentication to make banking safer, inclusive, and accessible for all.
In a major step toward inclusive and accessible digital banking, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has launched its Aadhaar-based Face Authentication feature across the country. Announced on August 1, 2025, the initiative is designed to empower customers — especially the elderly, differently-abled, and those with worn fingerprints — by offering a seamless, secure, and contactless way to carry out financial transactions.
This innovative authentication system leverages facial recognition technology developed under the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) framework. With this feature, customers no longer need to rely on traditional biometric methods like fingerprints or even OTPs. Instead, they can complete transactions using just their face — making digital banking both easier and more dignified.
Banking with Dignity for All
Shri R Viswesvaran, MD & CEO of IPPB, emphasized the human impact of the rollout. “At IPPB, we believe that banking should not just be accessible, but dignified too. With Aadhaar-based face authentication, we are ensuring that no customer is left behind due to limitations in biometric fingerprints or OTP verification. It’s not just a tech feature; it’s a step towards redefining financial inclusion at scale,” he said.
