As the brand's new offering in the compact luxury sedan space, the A5 will now replace the A4 popular sedan. The move is in line with Audi's decision. The new Audi A5 is based on the brand's latest Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture. The offering will be sold in Sportback (sedan) and Avant (estate) body styles, the first of which is more relevant to the Indian market.
The Audi A4 has been officially discontinued in the Indian market. With this, the German auto giant has unveiled the new-gen A5 model line. The 2025 Audi A5 will replace the Audi A4 in the brand's global lineup, which has been on sale for 30 years.
As the brand's new offering in the compact luxury sedan space, the A5 will now replace the A4 popular sedan. The move is in line with Audi's decision to offer ICE engines to cars with odd number plates while cars with even numbers will be electric.
The new Audi A5 is based on the company's most recent Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture. The offering will be available in both Sportback (sedan) and Avant (estate) body styles, with the former being more relevant to the Indian market. The design is more aggressive than its predecessor, with a larger grille and large air vents on either side. LED DRL styling is new to the headlamp cluster.
The rear taillights are second-generation OLEDs with 60 segments per digital panel. These lights can also use funky shapes to warn other drivers of impending dangers. The coupe's roofline is less dynamic than the older version, resulting in more cabin space. The Audi A5 will be a four-door model only. There are no plans to offer it in coupe or convertible models.
The cabin has been upgraded with a completely new interior layout. The vertically stacked twin display on the center console has been removed and space has been made for the new twin MMI infotainment unit that integrates the Virtual Cockpit instrument console (11.9-inch) and the infotainment screen.
The new Audi A5 also features a head-up display (HUD) unit that can be configured as per the driver's needs and there is an option to control the vehicle and infotainment functions through the HUD unit.
The new A5 is longer than the previous model and has a wider wheelbase, providing more cabin space. Most variants come with a panoramic sunroof, while the top trim level gets an electrochromic roof with 6-way adjustment.
The Audi A5 engine lineup includes a 2.0-litre TFSI turbo petrol engine rated at 148 bhp, with a 201 bhp version also available in some markets. Power will be directed to the front wheels and all four wheels, respectively. The model also gets a 2.0-litre TDI with 201 bhp and 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, which generates 400 Nm peak torque. Meanwhile, the more powerful Audi S5 will be powered by a 3.0-litre V6 TFSI engine producing 362 hp.
