2 suspects shot dead in Laokhowa Sanctuary of Assam, Congress raised a volley of questions against Forest Department

On Saturday, forest guards fatally shot two brothers who were unlawfully fishing inside the Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam's Nagaon district. According to police, two people from Juria went to Roumari Bhil to catch fish in the wildlife sanctuary at midnight.

When they saw the forest guards, they fled, and shots were fired. According to police, the tragedy claimed the lives of two brothers, Jaliluddin and Samiruddin. After visiting the two brothers' home, Rupohihat MLA Harul Huda sought an inquiry and compensation for the victim's family.

The Congress MLA said that if the two had tried to escape, they would have been shot in their legs. The forest department should answer why these two poor fishermen were killed and why their families should not be compensated. Villagers said that both the brothers were fishermen and had gone to Roumari Bhil to catch fish earlier too.
