2 policemen who snatched gold worth 50 lakhs were arrested: Passengers were taken to the jungle in the name of investigation from Delhi airport, also assaulted
Two head constables have been arrested at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport. He is accused of snatching gold worth Rs 50 lakh from different passengers from Dubai and Muscat in the name of investigation. Two passengers told that the policemen took them to the forest in the name of investigation. There they snatched gold from them and also had a fight. Following the complaint, both the accused have been arrested by the police. Police officials said that both of them were posted in the Special Operation Squad of IGI Airport Police Station. Both had stopped some passengers from Muscat and Qatar in the name of investigation. Snatched gold worth about Rs 50 lakh from them. A person from Rajasthan who had come from Muscat lodged a complaint in this matter on 24 December.
He said that on December 20, two policemen took him from the airport to a forested area in the name of an investigation. Here the policemen snatched 600 grams of gold from him and also assaulted him. On December 20, a person from Hyderabad, who returned from Dubai, also filed a complaint against the two policemen for snatching 400 grams of gold.
He told that we had brought gold from abroad for our master. On the complaint of the passengers, the police started the investigation and arrested both the head constables. It is being claimed in some media reports that these passengers had smuggled gold and brought it to India. However, this has not been confirmed by the police or airport officials.
