15 people injured in Kuki community attack: Two villages of West Imphal were attacked at night; Violence also took place in Vishnupur district
Two villages in Manipur's West Imphal district were attacked by Kuki community members on Friday night. 15 people were injured in the attack. According to the police, the people of the Kuki community were attacked with modern weapons and bombs.
On the other hand, violence has also been reported from Pombikhok in Vishnupur district. However, no one has been confirmed injured here.
People from the Kuki community attacked Phayeng and Kangchup Chingkhong villages. During this, the police stationed there and the Manipur Rifles retaliated to the attack. Firing continued from both sides for more than 4 hours, after which the people of the Kuki community fled to the nearby hills. The injured have been admitted to Imphal's Regional Institute of Medical Science and Raj Medicity. The condition of two people remains critical.
In a joint operation by Manipur Police, BSF, and Assam Rifles, seven bodies have been recovered from the Serau and Sugnu areas of Kakching district. According to the police, these people were killed in a violent clash on May 28.
Till now the police have also done encounters with 40 people in the state. CM N Biren Singh has described those killed in the encounter as 'militants'. CM said- These people are using M-16, AK-47 assault rifles, and sniper guns against common citizens.
