A massive explosion occurred during Friday prayers in the Herat province of Afghanistan. Mullah Mujeeb ur Rehman Ansari, one of the biggest religious leaders of the Taliban, was killed in this. The incident took place in Gajaragh city. Last month also a major Taliban leader was killed. ISIS's Khorasan Group (ISKP) is believed to be behind this attack. The Taliban has not given any information about this so far.
According to media reports, a total of 2 blasts took place in the mosque of Gazaghar. During this Juma prayer was going on. Mulla Mujib was the main Imam of this mosque. The blast happened in the row in front of him. It is believed that it was a fidayeen attack and two people were involved in it.
The second blast happened when people were running outside. According to some reports, Mullah Mujib had reached the mosque directly after attending an economic conference in Herat a few hours ago. His secretary refused to say anything about this.
Mullah Mujib was considered one of the most brutal leaders of the Taliban. He was strongly opposed to the education of girls and leaving their homes. About two months ago he had issued a fatwa. It said - if anyone opposes the Taliban regime or does not obey the orders, then his only punishment will be that he be beheaded. The special thing is that this decree or fatwa was rejected by the Taliban spokesperson as Mujib's personal opinion.
On Wednesday itself, there was a bloody clash between the Taliban and the Khorasan Group of ISIS ie ISKP in Herat. 3 terrorists of ISKP were killed in this attack. After this, the Khorasan group said that it would definitely take revenge for these deaths.
ISKP is believed to be the biggest threat to the Taliban, who captured the government of Afghanistan on 15 August 2021. There are clashes between Taliban and ISKP in many parts of the country including Herat. The ISKP was behind the blast at the Kabul airport when the US Army left Afghanistan.
