117 mobiles recovered in last 15 days, 5 officials of Mandoli jail suspended

Raids were conducted in Delhi's Tihar, Rohini and Mandoli Jails. During this, 117 mobiles were recovered. After this, the prison department suspended five officials of Mandoli jail. DG Jail Sanjay Beniwal has already made it clear that if such activities are found in jails, action will be taken against not only the prisoner but also the jail officials concerned.
The suspended officers have been identified as Deputy Superintendent Pradeep Sharma, Deputy Superintendent Dharmendra Maurya, Assistant Superintendent Sunny Chandra, Head Warder Lokesh Dhama Head Warder and Warder Hansraj Meena.
According to the information, search operations are being conducted in all the jails for the last 15 days. During this, 117 mobile phones were recovered from the jail staff. Apart from this, knives, pen drives and some keys have also been found. DG Jal Sanjay Beniwal has directed all jail superintendents to form search teams in their jails to locate mobile phones and other prohibited items.
Jail officials said that the DG Jail has given instructions that the search operation will continue even further to control the banned things in the jails.
Even before this, DG Beniwal had constituted a special vigilance team at the jail headquarters. On December 18, 2022, this team, along with the Tamil Nadu Special Police Force, raided Mandoli Jail. During this eight mobile phones and eight knives were recovered.
